Abstract

A well-prepared abstract enables the reader to identify the basic content of a document This research examines the relationship between self-control and consumer behavior among female students at Muhammadiyah University, Gresik. Consumptive behavior is the desire to consume goods excessively, activities that are not based on rational considerations and tend to waste inorder to fulfill personal satisfaction. Meanwhile, Self-Control is an individual's ability to regulate, guide and direct their behavior in purchasing a product. The hypothesis proposed in this research is whether there is a relationship between self-control and consumer behavior among Muhammadiyah University Gresik students. The subjects of this research were 370 active students at Muhammadiyah University of Gresik, using accidental sampling techniques. Based on the research results, it is clear that thereis a relationship between self-control and consumer behavior with a value of rho = 0.022 and p = 0.674 on sig. (2-tailed) which means the correlation is (p>0.05). This correlation concluded that there was no relationship between self-control and consumer behavior among Muhammadiyah University Gresik students.
