Abstract

This research explores the effectiveness of using the flashcard method to enhance reading skills among second-grade students at MI Al-Hidayah Banjarsari. The study adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, focusing on one student, AZM, who exhibited limited reading proficiency. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, and assessments. The intervention was conducted in three stages: pre-test, intervention, and post-test, each including structured reading activities using flashcards. Results indicated a significant improvement in AZM's reading ability, vocabulary acquisition, and confidence. Initially, the subject struggled with basic word recognition and pronunciation. However, the interactive and visually engaging nature of flashcards contributed to notable progress. The study concludes that the flashcard method is an effective educational tool for increasing student motivation and reading proficiency in early learners. Recommendations are made for teachers to integrate flashcards into regular classroom activities and for parents to support their children’s reading development at home.
