Abstract

Reducing the level of product defects is a challenge often faced by plastic processing companies, especially those producing yarns such as geotex yarn and strapping bands. This study aims to identify and reduce the factors that cause product defects in a plastic processing company in Gresik. Using the Six Sigma method, this study examines four main factors that affect product quality, namely man (human resources), method (process and procedure), machine (equipment), and material (raw materials). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and analysis of existing production processes. The results of the study indicate that these factors have a significant influence on the level of product defects, with a significant decrease in the level of defectsafter the implementation of improvements based on the Six Sigma approach. Through the application of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) steps, the company succeeded in reducing the level of product defects and increasing production efficiency. These findings are expected to contribute to the company in optimizing product quality and increasing customer satisfaction.
