Abstract

X, is one of the leading companies in Indonesia engaged in the production of corrugated carton boxes for various industrial purposes. The success of production in this company is highly dependent on the performance of production machines, especially on corrugated carton box machines. Identifying factors that affect the effectiveness of the Corrugated Carton Box machine at PT. X, analyzing the potential for damage to the machine running suboptimally using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method. and proposing improvement strategies that can increase the availability ratio value so as to minimize the frequency of damage. The discovery of damage that is often found in the corrugating carton box machine at PT X such as damaged bearings, broken drive vanbelts, and leaking air flow systems for the machine drive. The results of this study contain 3 RPN assessments, the first is that 3 indications of the highest cause of damage are obtained according to the results of the field survey, in the Risk Priority Number (RPN) Table for bearing damage, namely the maximum age of bearing use, RPN value 504, the engine is not balanced such as the connecting shaft is loose due to continuous erosion, RPN value 336 and excessive load, RPN value 292, the second is obtained 4 indications of the highest cause of damage, namely Broken Vanbelt, namely the maximum age of vanbelt use, RPN value 648, excessive speed, RPN value 504, imprecision between pulleys, RPN value 392, and contaminated with oil or chemicals, RPN value 288, and the third is obtained 4 indications of the highest cause of damage, the engine drive air flow system is leaking, namely the age of old components and worn out, RPN value 504, Damaged or worn seals, RPN value 448, Excessive air pressure, RPN value 392 and Poor hose or valve quality, RPN value 384. Based on 3 RPN value tables The highest priority problem that will be given a proposal for improvement from the problem is the maximum age of use of this Bearing causes sudden damage and then causes the machine to not be optimal and disrupts the production process with an RPN value of 504. The maximum age of use of the Vanbelt, this also causes the vanbel to suddenly break and then causes the machine to not be optimal and disrupts the production process with an RPN value of 648. And the maximum age of components that are old and worn out, this also causes many leaks and then causes a decrease in the speed of the machine so that it cannot be optimal and disrupts the production process with an RPN value of 504. In order for the machine to remain optimal, routine checks must be carried out, good control or operation of the machine and the selection of good components when replacing will minimize the frequency of damage.
