Abstract

Obstetric referral handling is an important link and a determinant factor of the outcome of pregnancy and childbirth. The cases should be referred midwife is severe complications. Expert system for the early detection of severe complications in pregnancy has intelligence as midwife expert, as making it easier for midwives in carrying out their responsibilities with respect to the implementation of the severe complications of pregnancy problems suffered by pregnant women. Reasoning used in this expert system is backward chaining, as well as providing certainty factor to calculate the certainty of the types of severe complications of pregnancy. Complaint that the patient suffered and great certainty introduced into the system, then the system performs reasoning and calculation of the value of certainty factor. System accurancy test use quantity methode by distributing quetioners to some midwifes. The end result of this system is a type of severe complications in pregnancy suffered by the patient, great certainty of the patients suffered complications and also therapy that need to be given.
