Abstract

The coil spring production process at PT Indospring Tbk Plant 3A still experiences frequent machine disturbances, unplanned downtime, reduced operating speed, and product defects, resulting in suboptimal production effectiveness. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Coiling machine using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and identify the major sources of losses through the Six Big Losses framework. The data analyzed include operating time, downtime, production output, and defects from January to October 2025. The results show that the average OEE value is 72%, which is below the world-class benchmark of 85%. The Six Big Losses analysis indicates that the largest losses originate from Idle and Minor Stoppage as well as Reduced Speed Losses, while Breakdown and Setup & Adjustment contribute less significantly. With an average OEE of 72%, the application of OEE and Six Big Losses proves effective in evaluating machine performance and provides a solid basis for formulating continuous improvement strategies.
