Abstract
Many factors can determine the success of EFL learners in learning English as a foreign language. There are two factors that influences the success of EFL learners are internal factors and external factors. The internal factors that can affect the success of EFL learners are learners’ belief, learners’ attitude, learners’ behavior, and learning strategies. Then, the external factors that can affect the success of EFL learners are the influences of the family, school, and those native speakers they know. Then, from the fact above, the writer needs to do this research but limit the research only about the internal factors. The writer really hopes that this study will be useful for EFL learners in senior high school. Practically, this study is expected to give good contribution in learning strategy of EFL learners to maintain their English. So, if the result of this study finds the better way as the effective learning strategy, it can be applied or generalized to the other learning strategies. In this study, the writer scope the study into senior high schools in Gresik and limitation of the study is focuses on how do good EFL learners maintain their English, what do good EFL learners’ belief, and what are good EFL learners’ attitude, behavior, and learning strategies. This study is descriptive qualitative because the data will be in the form f description information of how do good EFL learners maintain their English, what do good EFL learners’ belief, what are good EFL learners’ attitude, what are good EFL learners’ behavior, and what are good EFL learners’ learning strategies. The goal of the research is to know the learners’ strategies, learners’ belief, learners’ attitude, and learners’ behavior to maintain their English. The researcher found that practice English in their daily life everyday by doing something that make them interested in English is the best learners’ maintenance English. The right age to start learns and interest in English are important to influences their English. The teacher is the first source to solve their difficulty in English. Then, internet, friends, dictionary, and family were being the next sources. The song is the first factor that make them interested in English. Then, movie, artist, native speaker, and teacher being the next answered. Besides that, always practice English everyday is the first way to maintain their English. From those result of problem statement, practice English in their daily life everyday by doing something that make interested in English is the best learners’ maintenance.
