Abstract

This study aims to find out whether there is an influence of academic optimism on academic stress of industrial engineering students during the covid-19 pandemic. In this study, 37 participants participated. Data collection is done by incidental sampling technique. The collection of academic stress data was conducted through an adoption questionnaire compiled by Risa Pangestu (2019) while the academic optimism questionnaire of adoption from Syahrul Alim (2020) with a Likert scale. The data analysis in this study used a simple linear regression technique. The results of this study showed Ho was rejected. An R Square score of -0.526 indicated that there was an influence of academic optimism variables by 27.6%, while the remaining 72.4% was influenced by other variables not studied. Based on the analysis of the data, it can be concluded that there is an influence of academic optimism on the academic stress of industrial engineering students during the covid-19 pandemic.
