Abstract

The Sea Water Sanitary system is a system that functions to drain sea water on ships as toilet waste cleaning. The idea in making the title of the thesis started from the beginning of the commissioning activity or function test of the sanitary SW with the BKI surveyor team for surveying / checking on board. So we started to turn on the system by starting the pump and the sea water box, sea chest, sea water was sucked in and flowed into the crew / crew toilet room. At first the system ran smoothly because it was tested in clean waters, but after the ship sailed in cloudy waters and the color was brownish and this was the beginning of the problem that had an impact on the toilets in the ship being dirty because the water used was cloudy to settle in the bow. toilets that cause crust and if left for a few days will clump so it is difficult to clean and can clog the sewerage on the ship. After the analysis, it turns out that in the design of the SW sanitary system there is no filter to filter and purify sea water so that the toilet becomes smelly and dirty quickly. So a filtration system is made, especially for the bathroom that is used to remove dirt, so that it is optimal in maintenance and the life of the toilet can be more durable.
