Abstract

This article was to investigate the effectiveness of applying Think-Talk-Text strategy on students achievement by using procedure text at SMK Maskumambang 2 Dukun Gresik. The subject of this study was the students of X A and XB Software Engineering Department of SMK Maskumambang 2 Dukun Gresik. There were 50 students in two class. The writer conducted two groups that is experimental group and control group. The researcher use one method to collect data. That is a test. the test conduct in the pre-test and post-test, The test consisted of six meetings. Before the students was given treatment, the researcher measured on students achievement in writing procedure text by giving pre-test. After pre-test, the researcher give the last test that is post-test. In learning process,. Based on the data analysis, the researcher find the improvement of students achievement in writing skill after applying Think-Talk-Text strategy in the classroom. The mean of score in experimental group was 83,92 and the mean of score in control group was 82,24. The increasing was 75 points. It means that the students’writing skill by using Think-Talk-Text in procedure text is significantly. From the result of the study, it could be concluded that Think-Talk-Text Strategy was apply the students achievement in writing skill by using procedure text. This result is based on the analysis of the data by using the test in experimental and control group. Think-Talk- Text give a innovative strategy to apply in teaching writing. This strategy is implemented in the classroom successfully. The students have the positive behaviour after Think-Talk-Text was applied. The students become more enthusiastic during the study. The students’writing skill was also improved. The improvement of the students’ writing skill could be seen from the analysis of all of the test in experimental and control group. The students’ writing is measured from five components of writing, such as content, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. The writer has succesed in applying Think-Talk-Text during the teaching and learning process. Finally, the teacher or the research in further must have a preparation before teaching in the class and to be able to apply a various methods and strategy to students because if apply the interesting strategy to teach, the students also can enjoy the learning, will be more interested in learning English and can improve the skill also include in writing skill.
