Abstract

This study is a mix method of qualitative and quantitative to describe the implementation of online feedback toward writing attitude at second grade of SMAN 1 Menganti and to know the students’ perception toward corrective feedback by using online to their writing attitude. The subject of this study was the 34 students of XI MIA 1 class in SMAN 1 Menganti. Moreover, there were two research instruments used in this study. They were interview and Likert scale questionnaire. There were five components in implementing corrective feedback by using online. The first were tools for giving and getting corrective feedback. The students used e-mail and chat for sending their writing to the teacher and facebook to post students’ writing result. The second were the teacher and students as the subjects. Teacher was a first subject who gave writing assignment and corrective feedback toward students’ writing. The second subject were the students who got and gave correction. The third was the type of feedback. The teacher and students used written corrective feedback to correct the students’ writing result in writing group. The fourth was time frame for doing corrective online feedback, teacher gave time to the students for doing online activity a week after giving assignment. The fifth were facilities such as internet, connection and computer or gadget as main tools for doing corrective online feedback. Corrective online feedback is beneficial and appropriate for students’ need in writing because they can get information, suggestions, comments, and correction about their writing for example grammatical structure, organization of text, punctuation and word choices easily. The implementation of online feedback gives motivation to the students because they can get correction toward their writing. All of students have positive perception toward corrective feedback by using online. The implementation of corrective online feedback needs a time frame for doing online activity that possible for teacher and all of the students meet in the same time. In the online activity, the students should give their involvement for giving correction to their writing result and the other friends’ writing result. The students should be in line between how they think and how the act. They should try to write with good structure of grammar, organization of text, punctuation and word choices in their daily life.
