Abstract

Technology has supplied a lot of means and tools that can help in the learning process. Moreover, the significant of technology is effective and important to give contributed in raising students’ motivation in learning and encouraging them. The aims of this study are to develop interactive EGRA digital course method in teaching writing descriptive text by integrating the interactive multimedia aspects as the media and EGRA method as the approach. This research was classified as a research and development (R & D) study. The procedures were conducting needs analysis, designing the program (creating the course grid, writing the draft of the material, flowcharting and storyboarding), developing the program (collecting the materials, integrating the material into the program and validating the program to the experts) and evaluating the program (evaluation by the experts, making revision and validating the program to the experts). The subjects of the research were thirty two students of class Eleventh Grades of MIPA 3, Muhammadiyah senior high school 1 Gresik. The instruments for collecting the data were questionnaires (a need analysis questionnaire and expert validation questionnaires). The result of this study is an interactive EGRA digital course method in teaching writing descriptive texts for Eleventh Grades of MIPA 3 students at Muhammadiyah senior high school 1 Gresik. Based on the need analyses result, 61.29% of students agreed that interactive multimedia was needed to be implemented in writing class. The product of this research consists of three Units, which every unit used EGRA concept (Experience, Generalization, Reinforcement, and Application). In the Experience step, there are activities that stimulate the student toward the material, Generalization consist of activities that give the student’s comprehend toward the material, Reinforcement consist of activities that have term to enforce the students’ comprehend by do the exercises, and Application step in this product consist of the writing activities related with material of each unit. The findings of this study show that the interactive multimedia for teaching writing descriptive texts has met good characteristics. It is indicated by the mean score of the expert judgments for the material and media aspects. The mean score for the material aspect is 4.61, which is in the very good category. The mean score for the media’s aspect is 4, which is in the good category. For the next researcher, the researcher suggests to develop interactive multimedia in on line form. The next researcher can do research in different steps, grade, language skill, subject and research design.
