Abstract
Pearl oyster cultivation is a growing industry in various countries. The growth and quality of pearls produced by oysters are greatly influenced by the cultivation method used. This study aims to compare the growth of pearl oysters (pinctada maxima) cultivated using floating cage and longline methods. Different cultivation methods can affect the growth of pearl oysters. With a t-test using spss 16.0. The results of the t-test analysis showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the two methods compared, because the significance value (p-value) was greater than 0.05. In addition, the 95% confidence interval for the mean difference includes a value of zero, which also indicates no significant difference. However, in the floating cage method, several types of pest organisms were found such as biofouling and worms and other organisms, while in the longline method, fewer types of pest organisms were found. This study also highlights the importance of environmental factors such as water quality and availability of natural food in influencing the the growth of pearl oysters. Thus, this study provides s valuable insights for the pearl oyster cultivation industry in choosing the optimal cultivation method to increase the productivity and quality of oysters produced
