Abstract

Observations in IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) lessons, particularly in Grade V at UPT SD Negeri 31 Gresik, indicate that teachers still predominantly use conventional teaching methods or lectures and rely heavily on textbooks. This approach leads to students becoming easily bored, losing focus, and paying less attention during lessons. Based on these observations, this study aims to determine whether there is a difference when using the traditional game of engklek as a teaching method to enhance learning interest and problem-solving skills in IPAS lessons in the classroom. This study employs a quantitative method with a true experimental design, specifically a pretest-posttest model. The experimental group received treatment with a learning model based on the traditional game of engklek, while the control group received conventional teaching methods. The research procedure includes preparation, implementation, analysis, evaluation, and conclusion. Data collection techniques in this study involved pretests and posttests. The instruments used were problem-solving tests and observation sheets. The data were analyzed using validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and t-tests. The results show that the t-test results indicated a sig(2-tailed) value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, meaning there is a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) stating that there is no effect of the traditional game of engklek on students' problemsolving skills is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) stating that there is an effect of the traditional game of engklek on students' problem-solving skills is accepted. This result suggests that using the traditional game of engklek in the learning process can improve students' problem-solving abilities in the IPAS subject matter on Earth's surface.
