Abstract
This study aims to determine the condition index of green mussels (Perna viridis) cultivated using floating cage systems in Banyuurip waters, as well as to analyze heavy metal levels and water quality around the cultivation site. The research method involved sampling green mussels and direct measurements. Green mussel samples were taken from hanging ropes at a depth of 5 meters with20 mussels per meter. The research variables included the condition index, heavy metal levels, and water quality parameters such as temperature, salinity, brightness, dissolved oxygen, and pH. The analysis results showed a significant difference in the condition index between bright and dark areas, with a higher condition index value in dark areas, and there was a substantial difference between bright and dark points (0.0004 < 0.05). The levels of heavy metals Plumbum (Pb), Mercury (Hg), and Stannum (Sn) in green mussels (0.16525 mg/kg), (0.00735 mg/kg), (0.03915 mg/kg) respectively, were still within the consumption limits set by the Indonesian National Standardization Agency (BSNI), 2009. However, Cadmium (Cd) and Arsenic (As) levels exceeded the BSNI standards, with values of (0.28105 mg/kg) and (1.0148 mg/kg) respectively. Water quality around the cultivation site, although not reaching optimal standards, still supports the survival of green mussels.
