Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method in the procurement process at PT ABC to identify waste and reduce lead time. The main problem faced by the company is the lengthy procurement process due to numerous non-value-added (NVA) activities, such as repetitive document verification, negotiations with fixed vendors, and multi-layered approval procedures. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that out of a total process time of 6,750 minutes, only 1,680 minutes (24.9%) were categorized as value-added (VA) activities, while the remaining 5,070 minutes (75.1%) consisted of nonvalue-added and necessary non-value-added activities. After conducting analysis using VSM and developing a Future State Mapping, the total process time was reduced to 3,030 minutes. The proportion of valueadded activities increased to 55.4%, while non-value-added activities were significantly minimized. Therefore, the implementation of VSM proved effective in reducing lead time by 55.1% and enhancing the efficiency of the procurement process. This study recommends optimizing the use of ERP systems, establishing process time standards, and eliminating non-essential activities. Future researchers are encouraged to expand the scope of the study and include cost-efficiency analysis for more comprehensive results.
