Abstract

The use of bagasse as an adsorbent in the processing of used cooking oil aims to reduce the levels of free fatty acids before the transesterification process. This study explores the effectiveness of bagasse converted into activated carbon in adsorbing FFAand improving the quality of biodiesel. The results showed that bagasse is effective in reducing the levels of free fatty acids in RBD used cooking oil, thereby improving the quality of oil for biodiesel production. Time variations in the biodiesel production process affect the density, where increasing time causes a decrease in the density of biodiesel. The viscosity of the biodiesel produced meets the SNI 7182:2015 standard. Optimal conditions for biodiesel yield were achieved at 120 minutes with a yieldof 90.7%.
