Abstract

Low self-confidence and speaking skills in the context of vocational education based on religious values This study examines the effectiveness of applying muhadarah to improve public speaking skills among students at SMK Muhammadiyah 2 Gresik, with an emphasis on the issue. The approach used is qualitative, employing the case study method. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with students, teachers, and school administrators, as well as through participatory observation. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, accompanied by validation through data triangulation and member checking toensure the validity of the findings. The researcher's findings indicate that the implementation of muhadarah significantly improves students' confidence when speaking in public, critical thinking skills, and mastery of structured and logical language. Additionally, muhadarah strengthens social and cultural values such as tolerance, discipline, and solidarity, which align with Islamic teachings in an educational setting. These findings show that effective muhadarah functions not only in cognitive aspects but also in the social and emotional development of vocational students. Muhadarah is an efficient learning method to comprehensively enhance vocational students' public speaking soft skills with the support of religious and cultural values of the school. This study contributes practical insights for managing extracurricular programs and theoretical implications related to value-based learning and discussion in vocational education. Further recommendations include conducting longitudinal studies and integrating digital technology into muhadarah implementation to enhance understanding of its effectiveness.
