Abstract

The risen rate of unemployment for years has become a serious problem and one of major concerns for society, especially the government. This problem now requires cooperation from different parts of society, not only the government but also higher education institutions. Previous research has shown that there is a positive influence of entrepreneurship courses on students’ motivation to be successful. In light of these, this study aims to analyze the influence of entrepreneurship classes on the attitude of students from health-science major at STIKES Insan Unggul Surabaya. This research use pre-test and post-test method using self-completion questionnaire. To know the effect of entrepreneurship course, this research questionnaire is prepared based on personality theory, known as the big 5 personality dimension. Each characteristic is translated further into 14 statements representing its nature. The sample, on the other hand, is taken using purposive sampling approach with total sampling method, whereas the whole population are taken as much as 70 student (1 semester of academic year 2015-2016). The results shows that the entrepreneurship course have a positive impact on attitudes and behaviors of students in entrepreneurship. Such behavioral changes can be caused by the implementation of unconventional teaching methods, which combine case study method, field visit, discussion, and the use of multimedia.
