Abstract

The problem in this study was that many students are less skilled in writing cursive letters. This study aims to explain the effect of the Silaba method on the skills of writing cursive letters in simple sentence material in the first grade of elementary school at MI Muhammadiyah 09 Sekaran on academic year 2020/2021. This research method used an experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were class I MI Muhammadiyah 09 Sekaran totaling 14 students consisting of 7 males and 7 females. Data collection techniques and instruments used in the form of validation sheets, validity tests, observation sheets and cursive writing skills tests. Based on the analysis of research data, the findings obtained: (1) The results of students' writing skills experienced a significant increase after being given treatment using the syllabus method. This can be proven by the results of the average value before being given treatment, which is 54.35. Meanwhile, the average value after being given treatment obtained an average value of 77.285. (2) Data analysis used Paired Sample T-Test and obtained significant results, namely 0.000 < 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Silaba method on the skills of writing cursive letters in simple sentence material in the first grade of elementary school.
