Abstract

This study is introducing the English picture story book for young learners of SD Muhammadiyah Manyar. The study began with two stories of English picture storybook in two meetings during two weeks. Each meeting, the researcher read the story in front of 24 students in the classroom. This study aims to investigate the students’ perception about English picture story book. The data were collected from classroom observation, questionnaire and interview of the students. The finding of this research, the majority of the students realized that reading English picture storybook has big influence in their knowledge. English picture storybook can help them to improve their limited language, motivate them to read English picture storybook and stimulate their imaginations. However the data also represented that a difficult words on language organization as the students challenged on reading English picture storybook. The conclusions of this study are students’ perception English picture story book is good for them because English picture story book has important part in teaching, so they can improve their knowledge and their knowledge wider. Finally, the researcher would like to give suggestion for the teacher to support and motivate other students to intereste in reading English storybook and for the publisher hopes can create anybooks with new English picture storybook so the students attract to read although it uses English language. The writer and publisher must be creative to show brilliant idea to write and create English picture storybook because it can influence the students to more interest in read English picture story book.
