Abstract

Writing becomes one of the important skill. Here, writing is achieved by text, and one of the text that should be understood is Recount text. The reseacher analyzes the students‟ writing recount text written by eighth grader of SMP N1 Duduk Sampeyan Gresik based on the her reseach questions to know the concept their recount text in term of generic structure, language feature, and mechanincs. The researcher uses descriptive qualitative analysis. She gets the data from students‟ recount text. The reseacher takes the document of recount text from the teacher and copy all the document first, and then, back to the teacher the original. She analyzes them by supporting the analyzing from inter-rater. The result of the study showed concept of recount text that wrote by them orientation (where, who,and when). Dominantlythey used movement from when, who, and where as the introductory paragraph by giving background information. They directly moved to events consisted five events. Dominantly, they used touse logical order in chronological order in chronological signal by using first, first day, in the morning, after that, second day. And they moved to write re-orientation (there was sum up the sequence of event), starting wrote logical order in word and expressions and they moved to write contrast transition as their summary of re-orientation parts. It was supported by the inter-rater but little bit different with the reaseacher that is orientation (where, who, whom, when,). Dominantly they used movement from when, who, whom, and where as the introductory paragraph by giving background information. Then, they moved to events consisted four events.Dominantly, they used to use logical order in chronological order in chronological signal by using first day, in the morning, after that, second day. The language features, the reaseacher and inter-rater analyzed the same thing that their concept language feature consisted of Past tense, Action verbs, Nouns and pronouns as pronouns, Conjunctions and time/ Chronological connectives, Adverbs. The last was mechanics, here the reseacher found the concept of their mechanics. Those are capitalization in rules 1.1,1.2,4c,4j, punctuation in rules 2.1, and commas in rules 2.1.6, 2.1.7. the inter-rater found capitalization in rules .1, 1.2. 4.c, 4.j. Punctuation in rule 2.1. The rules commas, in number 2.1.6. By knowing the concept of students‟ generic structure, language feature, and mechanics from their recount text. So, by the conclusion above the reseacher suggested the teacher to prepare carefully the material before doing teaching and learning process and to know the suitable method of teaching. It is important because it can be influenced the result of the students‟ achievement in learning.
