Abstract
The results of observations on science learning, especially in class V UPT SD Negeri 31, Gresik Regency, teachers still tend to use conventional learning or lectures and rely on material books. Resulting in students getting bored easily, lacking focus and paying less attention to learning. Based on this, the researcher conducted this study with the aim of finding out whether there is a difference in using traditional engklek games as a learning method to increase interest in learning and problem solving in the science learning process in the classroom. This study uses a quantitative method with the design used is true experimental, namely pretest-posttest. The experimental group is learning that receives treatment with a traditional engklek game-based learning model and the control group receives treatment with a conventional learning model. The procedures in this study are preparation, implementation of research, analysis, evaluation and conclusion. . Data collection techniques in this study were pretest and posttest. The instruments used were problem-solving tests and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity and t-tests. The results of the study showed that the t-test results showed a sig (2-tailed) of 0.000 which was smaller than 0.05, which means that there were e selected groups, namely the experimental group and the control group. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) which states that there is no effect of traditional engklek games on student problem solving is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which states that there is an effect of traditional engklek games on student problem solving is accepted. These results indicate that the use of traditional engklek games in the learning process can improve students' problem-solving abilities in the subject of science on the earth's surface.
