Abstract

This study analyses kinds of teaching techniques used by a teacher in teaching speaking at fifth grade wittaya panya school. This study realizes that the successful of class depends on teaching techniques that has applied by the teacher in the classroom. The purposes of this study are to describe what teaching techniques are used by the teacher in teaching English speaking skill, to describe how the teacher applies the speaking teaching techniques, and to describe why the teacher applies the speaking teaching techniques. The teacher applied those teaching technique in order to encourage students to speak up. Moreover, the implementation of teaching techniques required the teacher to make some improvisations in order to make students enjoy learning English. The design Use instruments, such as an observation, interview, and record, this study concludes that teaching techniques used by the teacher in teaching English speaking skill at fifth grade of Wittaya Panya School are repetition drill, chain drill, question and answer drill and dialog memorization and chain drill. Meanwhile, the most teaching techniques used are repetition drill, chain drill, question and answer drill. There are 20 students as subject that has been chosen with some criteria. There are 2 types of data which are interview and observation. With six-meeting observations to students and proses of interview with teacher, but the researcher focused on three main observations to represent the result of the observation. The teacher used pre-teaching activity, whilst teaching activity and post-teaching activity. The result of the descriptive research about teaching techniques used in Wittaya Panya School in the 5th grade showed that the teacher used several drilling technique for speaking activities, they are repetition drill, question and answer drill, chain drill, and dialog memorization. And for next researcher, the writer hopes that there will be more researches to continue analyzing about teaching techniques in order to know other kinds of teaching technique used by a teacher in teaching speaking especially for EYL.
