Abstract

The students at second grade of SMP Islamic Qon had less achievement in studying English especially in writing subject. It makes them had less ability in writing. Many students felt bored because they got difficulties in writing a paragraph especially in descriptive paragraph. Therefore, the aim of this studywas to know wheter or not “Buzan Mind map Software increase the students writing skill in writing descriptive paragraph”. The research design was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The population research of this study were the students of 7A of SMP Islamic Qon. Moreover, in collecting the data, the researcher used two instrument, those are: observation and test. The result of the pre-test shows that most of students don‟t reach the minimum score. It means that generally, they were not success yet in writing skill especially in descriptive text. So the researcher implemented Buzan Mind Maps Software to increase the score of writing descriptive text. The steps of this strategy is not too different with general mind maps, just added a meeting that‟s explaining the use of Buzan Mind Maps Software. The result of the study shows that most of the students met the criteria of success, it was increased. If in the pretest, most of the students met the minimum score, when Buzan Mind Maps Software applied in the class the result of its strategy was 92% met the criteria of success. In other words, all students were able to achieve the minimum criteria.
