Abstract

This research entitled “The Effect of Think-Talk-Write Strategy in Writing Narrative Text for Tenth Grade of Senior High School” was aimed to find out the effect of students’ performance by using Think-Talk-write strategy of writing narrative text in tenth grade of senior high school. This study was conducted in SMA Al-Muniroh Ujungpangkah and The design of this study was quasi experimental design. The total number of the population was 58 students. The data was collected through pre-test and post-test as the instrument. After getting the data, the researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS 16.0 program. The research finding showed that there was significant difference between students who were taught by using “Think-Talk-Write” and students who were not taught by using “Traditional method (teacher centered)”. The researcher found that the probability value of both groups was 0, 014. It was less than the level of significance 0,05 ( 0,000 < 0,05 ). It indicated that “Think-Talk-Write” strategy could significantly affect students’ writing ability in narrative text. It was proved that the method could be effective to improve students’ writing skill. Based on this research, this strategy could enhance the students’ confidence in exploring ideas when composing narrative text. Also, this could make an active learning in classroom. In conclusion, the researcher hopes that this study can support English teacher to consider “Think-Talk-Write” strategy as an alternative method in teaching writing English and create an enjoy learning English situation. So, students will not feel bored and easy to understand the material well. In addition, English teachers who teach by using Think-Talk-Write (TTW) especially in teaching writing should create an active teaching learning process in order to make the students comfort in learning process.
