Abstract

This study entitled “Developing Reading Material using CALL for Fifth Grade Elementary School at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Gresik” was aimed to develop English material especially in reading subject by CALL as supporting media. This study was conducted in SD Muhammadiyah 2 Gresik.This study was to develop reading material using CALL to make students more comprehend during the classroom teaching and learning. The design of the study was Research and Development (R&D) Study. The development model used in this research was ADDIE. Model which has the procedure, a) analysis, b) design, c) development, d) implementation, e) evaluation. The researcher’s product was in the form of CD-ROM. Based on result study of development, the students like English reading material using CALL, because students can do activity with different thing. In reading material, the students can run the computers and apply the local site to learn English. It was new way that make students to be more comprehended in learning English material especially reading. The researcher determined that the strategy for the students in reading material using CALL were explaining, question and answer, and interactive. Moreover, the students after they got try out product, mostly they feel reading material using CALL was easier than learning by textbook. In conclusion, this program can develop reading material containly by adding pictures, gift, exercises and game. The students can be more understanding because displaying material in CALL makes the student get more motivation. The students like to learn English reading material because it has never been implemented in the English class. The researcher hopes that there will be more teachers, readers and developers who look at this study and could be developed more with different kind likes experimentally and analysis
