Abstract

Teachers’ perception is the process of teachers to interpret and organize an environment into meaningful information which cover teachers’ feeling of like or dislike toward something, it includes also the positive or negative opinion. Teachers’ perception in this study focuses on the implementation of Curriculum 2013 in English subject. Meanwhile, Curriculum 2013 is defined as a competency-based curriculum that is competence of graduates, include attitudes, knowledge, and skills in accordance with national standards agreed, and still provide authority to the academic and teachers to develop it. This is mixed method design or qualitative survey. 12 English teachers who teach Curriculum 2013 at senior high school that became the subject of this study. The data was collected by using perception questionnaire. After gained the data, the researcher analyzed the data by using some formulas. The researcher also used interview to ensure the result of questionnaire. The researcher’s finding from calculating of data showed that teachers had positive perception to the implementation of Curriculum 2013. There are 7 teachers (58.3 %) had positive perception. Finally, it can be concluded that the teachers agree about the implementation of Curriculum 2013, but there are some problems or aspects that have to be solved such as the students could not interest the material of handbook because the material was incomplete, implementation of scientific approach needed long time, the environment of learning could not conducive if the learning process was too long, learning models were difficult to implement, assessments were difficult to implement, etc. Therefore, it suggested for conducting studies which aim to find teachers’ perception toward implementation of Curriculum 2013 in different subject and situation, for the schools, schools can complete some aspects that are needed in implementation of Curriculum 2013, for the teachers, they may motivate to other teacher in other schools to use Curriculum 2013 and provide suitable material in implementation of Curriculum 2013, and for the students, they may give participation in implementation Curriculum 2013.
