Abstract

In this technology era, a multimedia becomes one of the greater tools for teaching and learning. Integrating the materials with the technology provide a challenge for the language teaching professionals. It is become potential tool to increase the quality of learning and the students’ motivation. The objective of this study is to develop interactive multimedia for listening materials using Lectora Inspire at tenth grade students in SMA YPI Darussalam. The approach used in developing this listening material is Task Based Learning approach (TBL). This research focus on developing interactive listening multimedia for tenth grade students of SMA YPI Darussalam in the first semester. The design of this study is research and development (R&D). The research procedure followed ADDIE design model proposed by Taylor (2004). The steps of the study are conducting the need analysis, design the course grid, flowchart, and storyboard, develop the activity and materials, tried out the product, evaluate the product by distribute the expert rating scale, revise the first draft based on the feedback from the expert, and the final product. In collecting the data, the researcher uses some instruments; interview sheet, need analysis questionnaire, expert judgment rating scale, and students’ response questionnaire. The result of this study shows that (1) the materials and activities in the interactive multimedia help the students to responds the information from the audio(2) the material and activities in interactive multimedia improve the students’ motivation in doing the listening activities. There are four chapters that developed by the researcher. The chapters consist of transactional and interpersonal conversation (greeting, introducing, leave taking, showing sympathy, and showing happiness) and simple monologue text (procedure and narrative text). The research finding showed that the mean of students’ response was 3,6. It means their response about the interactive multimedia was very good. The mean scores for content and media aspects were 3,48 and 3,6. The mean score for both aspect was 3,54 which was very good. It means that the developed interactive multimedia was appropriate to be implemented in tenth grade students of SMA YPI Darussalam.
