Abstract

This study is to develop the EAP material in Law Department University of Muhammadiyah Gresik. In the process of developing the materials, the researcher adapts ADDIE as development model. Students majoring in Law Department get General English and Specific materials in the second semester. Students majoring in Law Department do not get full specifics materials. To fulfill the students’ need, the researcher tries to develop EAP materials for Law Department. Materials development in accordance with the process of need analysis that has been done by the researcher with Law Department students who follow the ESP class at the University of Muhammadiyah Gresik by distributing questionnaire to 17 students in Law Department and interview with the expert from Language Center and Law Department Lecturer. The students need English to communicate when they work in the future, and write the English sentences using correct grammar. The students feel difficult to pronounce correctly conclude the audio, understanding the article or journal, and write the English sentences. The researcher designs the materials start from decides activities, research activities, create activities, and reflect activities. The students feel the materials have been arranged well starting from the easiest to hardest, materials appropriate with the Law Department, design and layout of the materials are interesting, the materials give motivation to the students, the materials and the instruction are appropriate with the student ability.
