Abstract

As the foreign language, English is one of the subjects in school with the purpose of basic communicating and master four language skills, such as: listening, writing, reading, and speaking. Teacher is the key success to the English teaching and learning. The teacher adopts and which is designed to help student learn, it is to some extent facilitative. Teacher is expected to show students about how getting knowledge, attitude, and skill. The purpose of this study is explaining the EFL teaching at Junior High School in Gresik. The design of this study is quantitave use descriptive survey. The researcher used this design in order to answer the problems related to the teacher’s perception toward good EFL teaching at Junior High School. The researcher conducted this study from September 19th 2014 to January 27th 2014. The researcher took all of English teachers who had been certified in Gresik which consisted of 36 teachers as the respondents of this study. The instrument of this study is questionnaires. Based on the result of data analyses, the research finding showed that the teachers’s perception toward good EFL teaching at Junior High School in Gresik is very good because based on the mean value of 80 perception of teachers, there are: 63 teacher’s perception categorized very good and 15 teacher’s perception categorized good. Based on this research, the researcher gives some suggestions. Firstly, the teacher’s movement in teaching should be broder and not only sit on the chair or stand in front of class. The teachers can walking to see the work of students and also be among of students when the students conduct discussion to see the ability of students.. Secondly, it will be better if sometimes the teachers ask the students to change the students position become U or circle based on the students want. It will make students more interested, fun, and motivated in teaching learning process. The researcher hopes that this study can hold up the previous study and may be used as consideration for teaching and learning process.
