Abstract

The quality of interaction between students in the English class of class X MA Al-Aman Lamongan looks not good. Students towards each other are apathetic, even showing cynical attitudes. Improving the quality of interaction in class X MA Al-Aman Lamongan needs to be done in order to create a comfortable and conducive learning atmosphere. This study aims to assess the quality of student interaction during digital storytelling. This study formulates research questions: 1) How is the quality of student interaction implemented during the digital storytelling process?; 2) What are the results of the quality of student interaction during the digital storytelling process?; 3) What are the advantages and disadvantages of the quality of student interaction during the digital storytelling process? This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of field research. Collecting data using interview techniques, participant observation, documentation, and tests. This study shows the following results: 1) Implementation of the quality of student interaction during the digital storytelling process is generally carried out in three categories, namely the implementation preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the implementation evaluation stage; 2) The results of applying the quality of student interaction during the digital storytelling process show good results; 3) The advantages of the quality of student interaction during the storytelling process include: a) students' active participation in learning; b) good interaction between teachers and students; c) students are able to ask questions that encourage other students to learn more about the learning material; d) students are able to ask questions that promote higher-order reasoning; e) students are able to facilitate various questions and comments from other students; f) The teacher acts as a guide and companion for students; g) Teachers and students have interactive techniques that prevent boredom; h) Teachers and students are able to resolve conflicts and other personal problems that may arise. Deficiencies in the quality of student interaction during the storytelling process include: a) lack of student participation in participating in digital storytelling learning; b) lack of student activity in participating in digital storytelling learning; c) Less conducive learning atmosphere, because early students cannot control the learning process and atmosphere.
