Abstract

The writer is interested in studying the use of stick figures for teaching vocabulary at Elementary School. Hence, the questions was formulated as follow : (1) how is the implementation of Stick Figures in teaching vocabulary? and (2) what are the students responses to the implementation of Stick Figure in learning vocabulary? The subjects of this study were the two English teachers who implement stick figures in teaching vocabulary. They were English teacher of MI. Tarbiyatul islamiyah Ngampel and MI. Al hidayat Indrodelik Bungah. The writer used descriptive qualitative research in doing her study. Moreover, there were two kinds of instruments used in this study, they were observation form, interviews. The research was conducted in three meetings. In every meeting the teacher gave an assingment. The different topics were give in every meeting. The finding of the research showed that the implementations of Stick Figures in teaching vocabulary which were done by the two teachers were: first, the teacher showed stick figures to the students. Second, the teacher asked question the about pictures to students. Third, the students guessed the picture. Fourth, the teacher made a group to give game. Five, the students discussed about the picture. Besides, the students response towards the implementation of Stick Figure in learning vocabulary were very good. It was based on the observation and their statement in depth interview that most of them were enjoyed, enthusiastic, and interested in learning vocabulary by using Stick figure.
