Abstract

his study is to know the significance influence of DIGS technique on students’ speaking ability between Control Group and Experimental Group. This study was conducted in MTs.Mathlabul Huda Dukun Gresik by using quasi experimental design. The data was collected from pre-test and post-test as the instrument. After getting the data, the researcher analyzed the data by using Independent sample T-t in SPSS 15.0 program. The research finding showed that there was significance difference between students who were taught by using DIGS and students who were taught by using repetition drill. The researcher found that the probability value of both groups was 0,000, it was less than the level of significance 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05). It showed that DIGS could significantly influence students speaking ability. It proved that the technique could be effective and influence students’ speaking ability. The last, the researcher suggests to English teachers that this study can support teaching speaking using DIGS technique as an alternative technique and make students enjoyed and fun so they will not feel bored and it will make the students interested to learn English.
