Abstract
The principle purposes of the study are to identify some errors as follows: a.) students’ ability in creating verbal and nominal sentence in writing at Muhammadiyah Manyar Elementary School b.) common errors which exist in creating verbal and nominal sentence. English is an international language used by many people for communication. meanwhile The students cannot avoid the grammatical errors in their writing. while the writing is how the authors provide information and messages to make the reader understand what the author thought. Research design in this study was descriptive qualitative research and documentation were employed in the collecting the data. The subject of this study was the fifth grade students of Muhammadiyah Manyar Elementary School consist of 26 students. The results obtained by the researcher can be seen that the students' ability in making verbal and nominal sentences is "good" (88.47%), for "Excellent" (7.69%), while "Fair" (3, 84%), and "poor" (0%). Most students' mistakes were made on the grammatical rules with the lowest price of the other categories is 11.53%, Spelling (25.17%), Capitalization (30.04%) and Punctuation (32.86%). With this research, it is hoped that the teacher can further develop the learning media to increase the value of the students who get average "Good". For students must be more thorough again in the making of sentences, especially verbal and nominal sentences. In the future, students are no longer confused by two verbal and nominal sentences
